A History of Queen Anne Chocolates

chocolates When I was a child in Gisborne we could buy Queen Anne turtles. My older sister would buy one for me as a special treat. This was in the 1950s early 60s! The store was next to the picture theatre. Everyone in Gisborne knew and loved the store! chocolates

chocolates I have vivid gustatory memories of my Great Uncle Les sharing a HUGE chocolate with me.It was a cherry liqueur.A cherry fondant base with cherry brandy liqueur & I think a cherry, all covered in chocolate(dark I think)nestled in a paper cup.
Are these made any more? chocolates

chocolates This is my story.... AS far back as I can remember those 3 words, Queen Anne Chocolates meant decadence & have left a lasting impression. Born in Wanganui almost 65 years ago I can remember clearly my mum taking me to this amazing shop in Victoria Avenue every time we went to town. The sight of rows & rows of chocolates is still clear in my mind. My mum's favourite were the ginger jellies ! I think my sister, brother & I were happy as long as we got some. Then in 1966 we moved to Tauranga & much to my delight there was a shop on The Strand which later moved around the corner to Spring Street. Once again I was "hooked". Then one day the shop closed, how sad that was. I now own a shop called Sweet Boutique in Tauranga and would be very keen to supply my customers with Queen Anne Chocolates. I would like to know if this is possible. Regards Pauline. chocolates

chocolates Hello,
My Mother worked for Ernest Adams (Adams Bruce) in the 1920's and 1930's. She worked in Dunedin and may have worked in Christchurch too.

She told the story that she had to weigh up the cake crumbs, before going home each evening, to make sure that none had been eaten or lost!
Another story she told me, was that she polished the chocolates in the shop and for the display windows.
This was during the Great Depression days.

I would love to know the exact years and which shops she worked in with you. Can you help with this information?
Her name was Jessa Gretchen CUFF (married name SAYER)
She would have been in her twenties then.

I live in Australia and buy QAnne chocs every time I go to NZ.
Is there anywhere I can buy them in Australia please!!!!!!!

I would love to hear from you regarding these queries. Thanks.
